Barrie Transfer Building:

This new transfer building is located on the west side of Barrie. The project is very interesting as it is comprised of a pre-fabricated superstructure with a conventionally built office portion within the structure. The building is on a 6 acre site and is approximately 35,000 sf in total area. The transfer area has 7 drive-in doors, and an 8th door with a drive-in pit area for loading the sorted demolished recyclable material. There are two storeys of office space next to the transfer area to allow for the everyday operational function of the business. The approval process has been extremely onerous as we engaged ourselves with the City of Barrie; the Ministry of the Environment; and the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority. The site grading has just commenced, and we are anticipating completion of construction before the end of 2019.
